SYMPTOM

Gallery can’t generate the gallery and Shozam Error Log file identifies "System.IO.IOException: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)".

CAUSE

Gallery contains image files which are corrupted or otherwise unavailable.

• Corruption can happen if you get the images from the web and there was an error during the download or in any other way
• Images can be unavailable if they were added from a temporary location (e.g. CD, DVD or other removable media drive)

RESOLUTION

1)     Identifying corrupted images.

2)     Delete from Gallery

3)     Generate full Gallery
